My Thoughts:
for my personal tastes the thought of the book was nice. but in actuality i just didn't enjoy it. in some ways it seems like the stories were a little on the trying too hard side. it didn't grab me like a fiction romance novel would. so this kind of missed the mark with me.

i was provided this book in exchange for my review. i wasn't compensated in any way
i love a good graphic novel and if its about Jesus then sign me up. i'm sure its more marketed for a kid but as an adult i love it just as much. the pictures and the way the stories are told are awesome and i'd definitely recommend for all ages!

After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.

Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.

The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

My Thoughts:

at first i thought i wouldn't like it when i got started but once i got a few pages in i really started getting into the story. at the same time its not like the previous novels from her i've read where i was instantly involved with the whole story. so on one hand it was good, on the other it just didn't grab me like previous novels.

i was provided this novel for review free of charge in exchange for my thoughts. i wasn't compensated in any way.
Do opposites really attract? John and Nora might just be the perfect match. Find out in True to You, book one in Becky Wade's new series! Genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now. Former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

Feeling betrayed, confused, and ill-equipped for a crisis this crippling, he reexamines everything he knows about the fragility of hope and the strength of his faith and love. My Thoughts: i've liked Cynthia Ruchtis books in the past so i assumed this one would be awesome as the others were. the writing was good and it did keep me interested but i guess maybe i just didn't like where it went or where it was going. granted i finished the entire thing pretty quickly. i just felt like it lacked something in the story and i hated how it ended. that part was unfortunate for me. all in all it was a good read. just not my favorite

<span style="font-family: "century gothic" , "itc avant garde" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">My Thoughts: This novel had everything i'd look for in a novel. it was fast paced, easy to connect to and at times it really made me mad with some of the characters (thats not bad i swear) it made me want to keep going and going and going. the only thing i didn't like was the ending, for me it felt way too abrupt. probably cause i would have kept reading more and more if it had it. Victoria had such a great writing style for me to keep interested and still couldn't guess what would happen next. thats awesome cause its kind of a bummer when you can totally guess what happens every single point in a novel. i can't wait for her to write more books!

My Thoughts:
i've only recently been introduced to Cythia Ruchti's books. and it makes me wish i knew about her sooner. this book instantly caught my attention and it never stopped. though at times i got kinda frustrated with it. and i honestly didn't like the ending all that much. but regardless the writing kept me guessing and wanting to see what happened next. i finished it super quick which was pretty good considering i haven't actually finished a book in a long while. i wouldn't necessarily call this a super romantic book but it was nice nonetheless. check this out if you like music or a story about a person who is just at a crossroads in life.

Keeper of the Stars (Thomas Nelson, January 2016)

Because it's not always love at first sight!

When her mother died from pneumonia, Penny Cartwright was heartbroken. But now, after burying her younger brother just 12 years later, she is devastated. Anger, guilt, and sorrow cloud Penny's mind, and the last thing she wants is to be reminded of her pain---but that's exactly what happens when a stranger comes to town.

Trevor Reynolds has been chasing fame for more than a dozen years, but his musical career can't get off the ground. While on the road, an accident kills his young drummer, Brad Cartwright. Trevor wasn't behind the wheel, but he still blames himself . . . and so does Brad's sister, Penny. Now Trevor finds himself in Kings Meadow, determined to follow through on his final promise to his friend.

Still feeling the pain of Brad's death, Penny and Trevor must learn that forgiveness is the only thing that can heal their hearts. And if they do forgive, something beautiful may rise from the ashes of heartbreak.
About the book:
Another Way Home (Abingdon Press, October 2015)

Sometimes God's ways are not at all what we expect . . . and exactly what we need.

Grant
and Audrey are adding grandchildren to their family left and right, but
middle daughter, Danae, and her husband, Dallas Brooks, have been
trying for years with no baby in sight.

Though Danae is ready to
consider adoption, Dallas will not even discuss it. Despairing of ever
having a family of her own, Danae decides to pour her passion and
energies into volunteer work with a newly opened women's shelter in
town. Looking for a good cause to fill her lonely days, she never
expects to give her heart to the hurting women she meets there. She's
finally learning to live her life with gratitude, but then
heart-wrenching events on Thanksgiving weekend threaten to pull the
entire Whitman clan into turmoil-and leave them all forever changed.

My Thoughts:

Litfuse was kind enough to send me this book for review. and honestly this series is a hit for me no matter which book it is. i always go through Deborah Raneys books at lightening speed. the writing just keeps you interested from the very start and Dallas and Danae's story was one of those. it was honestly kind of heart wrenching at times and at other times it was something where i wanted to cheer! you do get put on a rollercoaster ride of emotions but i love that in a book it keeps it interesting. if you like a series about a family that has all sorts of different and entertaining stories. then this is the one for you.

thanks to litfuse and abingdon for providing me with a copy of this for review. i wasn't compensated in any way.

have won numerous awards, including the RITA, National Readers Choice

life in Kansas-the setting of many of Deborah's novels---for life in the
(relatively) big city of Wichita, where they enjoy gardening,
antiquing, movies, and traveling to visit four children and a growing
brood of grandchildren who all live much too far away.

Historical Romance
Bethany House

Can Silas and Kate overcome their rocky start and experience healing—and possibly love? Discover the answer in Melissa Jagears' new book, A Bride at Last. Neither Kate nor Silas is prepared for the secrets and past hurts that have yet to come to light as they attempt to prove nine-year-old Anthony's paternity to the court. Can their wounded souls bind them together or will all that stands between them leave them lonely forever?

My thoughts:

This is truly a heart-wrenching story in many ways. Silas' abandonment issues from early childhood and his trying desperately to drown it all in drinking, which drives his wife of less than a year away from him, resulting in even more loneliness... and Kate's abuse at the hands of her brother-in-law who had the same problem, after the death of her parents, with all the memories of that that make her marriage impossible... then the kid, who may be Silas' own, and all his troubles, and all the struggles to become his parent... everything is just so insane in this story, with a storm brewing around every corner.

But it does get better eventually, and it ends in beautiful resolution. You just have to read it to see how it all weaves together so intricately to bring lovely relief to such chaos and disharmony.

I also love the book cover and feel like it complements the story so well, especially when it's all said and done. They're adorable, and you can really see the way Silas cherishes Kate, with the cute boy down below. I heartily recommend this book, so get it now!
Summer's List (River North, June 2015)

A dying wish alters the course of a young woman's life.

Life
hadn't been easy for Summer Snow. In acts of selflessness---caring for
her ailing parents and running her grandmother's bookstore---she had
forfeited her youth and dreams for the needs of others. And the only
tries she had at love . . . didn't turn out. She had the bookstore, she
had her beloved granny, but she was missing something---or someone.

Opportunity
strikes when Granny sends Summer on an unexpected adventure with one
Martin Langtree, a kind but gangly young man from Summer's past. A
childhood friendship is rekindled, a romance is sparked, and mysteries
are solved in one magical Texas summer. Will Summer strike out on love
again, or will things
finally go her way?

My Thoughts:

At times this book is honestly really heart wrenching. while reading the book i wasn't sure what to think at some points. it was a really amazing book. i just wish it was longer some parts i felt like just weren't finished. so that part made me a little sad. but the story line was one that made you consistently interested. i would definitely recommend this book to all who want a somewhat light read!
About the book:
Two Roads Home (Abingdon Press, June 2015)

What if it's too late for dreams to come true?

Minor---but-nagging
setbacks continue to sour Grant and Audrey Whitman's initiation into
the world of innkeeping, but larger challenges brew when an innocent
flirtation leads to big trouble for the Whitmans' son-in-law, Jesse.
Jesse Pennington's friendly, outgoing personality has always served him
well, especially in a career that has earned him and his wife Corinne a
very comfortable lifestyle. But Corinne and Jesse are both
restless---and for similar reasons, if only they could share those with
each other. Instead, too many business trips and trumped-up charges of
harassment from a disgruntled coworker threaten their marriage and
possibly put their three precious daughters at risk.

With their
life in disarray, God is tugging at their hearts to pursue other dreams.
Can Corinne and Jesse pick up the pieces of what was once a wonderful
life before it all crumbles beneath them?

Purchase a copy: http://bit.ly/1BdaEcG
Deborah Raney's books have won
numerous awards, including the RITA, National Readers Choice Award,
HOLT Medallion, and the Carol Award, and have twice been Christy Award
finalists. She and her husband, Ken, recently traded small-town life in
Kansas-the setting of many of Deborah's novels-for life in the
(relatively) big city of Wichita, where they enjoy gardening, antiquing,
movies, and traveling to visit four children and a growing brood of
grandchildren who all live much too far away.
Tray Dunaway longs to be part of the popular set at school but, she's growing too fast and her clothes no longer fit. The only person who understands Tray's need for acceptance is her grandmother, but when Tray wears Gram's hand-sewn clothes to school, the kids make fun of her tall, boney appearance. Tray's luck improves when Pee Wee Johnson, a down-and-out friend of her father's, buys two lottery tickets and gives one to Mr. Dunaway as a thank-you for driving him to Hazard, Illinois. When her father's ticket turns out to be the winner, Johnson demands his cut of the proceeds, but Tray's dad refuses. What seems like a stroke of good fortune suddenly becomes a disturbing turn of events as Johnson threatens to cause problems for the family and Tray.
I studied literature and criticism at Pepperdine University and earned a degree in English in 1997. Since then, I’ve worked in a number of different industries as a salesperson, marketing manager, copywriter, and small business consultant. In addition to my work for corporate clients, I wrote for publications produced by the World Health Organization.
I love the history, culture, and mythology of Ireland and Scotland, which form the settings for most of my work. I also enjoy incorporating my background in martial arts and fencing into the action elements of my stories.
I’m a member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and Romance Writers of America (RWA). I was selected as a finalist in ACFW’s 2012 Genesis contest in the speculative fiction category. My debut novel, a contemporary romance entitled Five Days in Skye, was released by David C Cook in June 2013 and went on to win RWA’s 2014 RITA Award for Inspirational Romance. My three book young adult fantasy series, SONG OF SEARE, is being released from NavPress in 2014 and 2015.
In a small Texas town ruled by gossip, Fawn Blaylock believes others are justified in condemning her untimely pregnancy. Stifled by guilt, she yearns for grace while the local football coach treats her with gentle respect.

Justified perfectly captures the rhythm and romance of life in a small town, telling the unforgettable story of a woman searching for renewal, a man looking beyond what others see, and a community torn between judgment and love. It is the unforgettable story of broken dreams, second chances, and relentless hope.
My Thoughts:
The mystery that this book starts out with is super intriguing. it definitely kept me interested. halfway through i'm still unsure of some things but always keeping you guessing is what makes a great novel in my opinion. i got a chance to read another novel from Cynthia and that one i finished in a day. i haven't had the time to finish this one but being halfway makes me want to just sit and finish all the way. its so good!

Edit: this book was so good but the ending quite frankly left me wanting more and more. i felt like it wasn't finished and i've been sorta irritated about it all day since finishing in the morning. i guess you could say the ending left me with more questions than i even had before and it was way too abrupt.
and Max Ross may have to endure the fight of their lives to mend the
tattered fabric of their marriage. His actions ensured she could never
be a mother and put him in prison, giving their relationship a
court-mandated five-year time-out. On a self-imposed exile to beautiful
but remote Madeline Island, one of the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior,
Emmalyn has just a few months left to figure out if and how they can
ever be a couple again.

Nudged along by the exuberant owner of
the Wild Iris Inn and Café, a circle of misfit people in their small
town, and a young girl who desperately needs someone to love her,
Emmalyn restores an island cottage that could become a home and begins
to restore her heart by learning what it means to love unconditionally.
Yet even as hope begins to find a place within the cottage walls,
Emmalyn still wonders if she's ready for Max's release. She may be able
to rebuild a cottage, but can she rebuild a marriage?

Purchase a copy: http://bit.ly/1Gs5M3Q

Abandoned as a teenager, guidance counselor Tate Malone has become surrogate and over-protective father to his sister. Life is great until Shelby Coltman wheedles his impressionable sister into sharing an apartment. Raised in wealth, the beautiful Shelby could never understand poverty or rejection, and Tate doesn't appreciate her uprooting his sister.
When Shelby hands over her savings to a homeless student, will God obliterate Tate's fears and deliver all of Shelby’s dreams...when hope rises?

Every morning, Carmen Hart pastes on her made-for-TV smile and broadcasts the weather. She’s the Florida panhandle’s favorite meteorologist, married to everyone’s favorite high school football coach. They’re the perfect-looking couple, live in a nice house, and attend church on Sundays. From the outside, she’s a woman who has it all together. But on the inside, Carmen Hart struggles with doubt. She wonders if she made a mistake when she married her husband. She wonders if God is as powerful as she once believed. Sometimes she wonders if He exists at all. After years of secret losses and empty arms, she’s not so sure anymore.

Until Carmen’s sister—seventeen year old runaway, Gracie Fisher—steps in and changes everything. Gracie is caught squatting at a boarded-up motel that belongs to Carmen’s aunt, and their mother is off on another one of her benders, which means Carmen has no other option but to take Gracie in. Is it possible for God to use a broken teenager and an abandoned motel to bring a woman’s faith and marriage back to life? Can two half-sisters make each other whole?

About the book:
A Love Like Ours (Bethany House, May 2015)

Former
Marine Jake Porter has far deeper scars than the one that marks his
face. He struggles with symptoms of PTSD, lives a solitary life, and
avoids relationships.

When Lyndie James, Jake's childhood best
friend, lands back in Holley, Texas, Jake cautiously hires her to
exercise his Thoroughbreds. Lyndie is tender-hearted, fiercely
determined, and afraid of nothing, just like she was as a child. Jake
pairs her with Silver Leaf, a horse full of promise but lacking in
results, hoping she can solve the mystery of the stallion's reluctance
to run.

Though Jake and Lyndie have grown into very different
adults, the bond that existed during their childhood still ties them
together. Against Jake's will, Lyndie's sparkling, optimistic
personality begins to tear down the walls he's built around his heart. A
glimmer of the hope he'd thought he'd lost returns, but fears and
regrets still plague him. Will Jake ever be able to love Lyndie like she
deserves, or is his heart too shattered to mend?

ABOUT THE BOOK

At the wood’s edge cultures collide. Can two families survive the impact?

The 1757 New York frontier is home to the Oneida tribe and to British colonists, yet their feet rarely walk the same paths.

On the day Fort William Henry falls, Major Reginald Aubrey is beside himself with grief. His son, born that day, has died in the arms of his sleeping wife. When Reginald comes across an Oneida mother with newborn twins, one white, one brown, he makes a choice that will haunt the lives of all involved. He steals the white baby and leaves his own child behind. Reginald’s wife and foundling daughter, Anna, never suspect the truth about the boy they call William, but Reginald is wracked by regret that only intensifies with time, as his secret spreads its devastating ripples.

When the long buried truth comes to light, can an unlikely friendship forged at the wood’s edge provide a way forward? For a father tormented by fear of judgment, another by lust for vengeance. For a mother still grieving her lost child. For a brother who feels his twin’s absence, another unaware of his twin’s existence. And for Anna, who loves them both—Two Hawks, the mysterious Oneida boy she meets in secret, and William, her brother. As paths long divided collide, how will God direct the feet of those who follow Him?
